- Built in 1944 by Tuckwiller’s grandfather, this barn was where Tuckwiller learned hard work and responsibility caring for his show animals and toiling in the hot hayloft stacking alfalfa square bales. It’s also a representation of his family’s legacy in the valley, one he hopes to add to through his work in beef production.
- Brad Bennett stands in R.B. Warren Arena. Bennett began his judging career at Butler County Community College in El Dorado, KS. He then transferred to Kansas State University where he competed on the senior livestock judging team and received his bachelor’s degree in animal science and master’s degree in ruminant nutrition. Bennett has been UNL’s livestock judging coach since 2013.

- Riverbend Ranch headquarters sits near Idaho Falls, Idaho. Owned by Frank Vandersloot, the multi-pronged business includes a 1,400-head registered Angus herd that produces around 450 quality bulls to market per year and a 4,000-head commercial herd. They background about 8,000 stocker calves per year and feed out around 12,000 head. (Journal photo by Holly Martin.)

- Terry and Jim Wilson take great pride in the reputation cattle they produce and the land that supports them. The high school sweethearts treat the 60,000 acres they have built together like their own backyard and take care of it accordingly, leaving a legacy of stewardship for their daughter and granddaughter.
